I will make it legal

We have the fourth amendment of the US Constitution getting trampled on by Congress and the President with a new bill. You know the whole FISA thing with warrantless wiretapping of US citizens and the telco's playing along with them. I understand it's for the whole "war on terror" but there is a difference. We play by the rules and those rules are there for a reason - we are better than them.

It's like this:
For my part of playing the Star Wars geek I will use the following from the Phantom Menance:

Darth Sidious: Viceroy, I don't want to see this stunted slime in my sight again. This turn of events is unfortunate. We must accelerate our plans. Begin landing your troops.
Nute Gunray: Ah, my lord, is that... legal?

Darth Sidious: I will make it legal.

Thank you wikiquote by the way.

It sounds a lot like that doesn't it?  Going back retroactively to fix things so what you did was legal just doesn't make sense.  It's like accountability doesn't really matter...

Then we have Senator "Change we can believe in" Obama, who said he would oppose the bill.  Surprise he voted for it.  I believe the right catch phrase for him in this case is "Change is something I talk about".  There's enough people who are ticked about it to cause a stink so we shall see. Plus the ACLU has already filed lawsuits.  I'm on the fence wondering if the courts will actually manage to do something or just sit there.  The last round with the second amendment at stake was a good sign so there is hope.  Funnier is Hillary Clinton voted against it which is probably her way of playing the cards close to her chest preparing for the convention where things could still go her way.  Obama annoys the wrong crowd, support fizzles as fast as he gained it then she steps in and takes over. By the way it looks like  McCain didn't even bother to show up for the vote like so many others he missed... I wonder how he would have voted. Oh wait we can probably guess.
