Man in the Box - Star Wars vs. Sports

This is an interesting comparison

The thought is in the right place just the wrong idea

I honestly hate writing this but I feel differently and need to speak.

There was a story in the news today that caught my attention. It was about the Bengals kicker Shayne Graham announcing commemorative Keith "Matt" Maupin dog tags will be available.

First off I have nothing against the Mauppins. As a fellow soldier I feel sorry for their loss and had hoped he would be found alive and well. Sadly here we are.

My issue is with the use of dog tags. It's just not the right thing to be using because of how the tags are really meant to be used. Look it up yourself and ask is that how he should be remembered?

I don't think so but I'm just someone who may, as a former soldier, be just thinking this out too far.  read more »

Watch out there's a new breed of carnie in town

When I was young we use to go to the county fairs in the area all the time. Tractor pull night of course and we'd go around trying our best to win some glorious prize like a cheap mirror with some stupid logo on it. Then of course there were the Carnies. They were there to do one thing and one thing only make a buck and who could blame them.

Anyway on that little thing it brings me to what I call the new group of carnies. Their called mall carnies. You know the guys. Well dressed working a kiosk. Always have a few people standing around. They sell cell phones and they always try to get your attention. Usually like "Can I ask you a question" which of course you politely say "You already did" and walk on. It's like having a caller out there just trying to catch your attention. "Hurry Hurry step right up" has been changed to "What do you pay for your cellphone?"  read more »

Hypnautic Hammer

Way back in the 80's / early 90's there was a computer called the Amiga. It was an great system some running a whopping 4mhz. Don't laugh cause it behaved way better than Windows at the time.
Plus no one else had the guru meditation error for what the windows world now calls the blue screen of death. Anyway there was a demo scene and this video is from an Amiga.

It's best to put this on full screen and in a dark room. If you don't like strobes this video isn't for you.

It looses it's effect just a little but it brought back some good memories.  read more »

More lack of updates

Sorry for the lack of any real updates lately. I've tried to post a few things but just can't the right things down. On top of that the new server I'm building decided it wanted to loose a hard drive. Even with redundancy it had problems because I was goofing around with the bad drive. Somehow though I managed to rescue it so hopefully in a few days I can get it back on track when I get the new disk. That's been taking most of my spare time. Hopefully this coming weekend things will be calm and I can work on a few things. Maybe even start on rebuilding the Cyclone pinball machine. Nah it'll be mowing grass!

Resonantie

This video contains ultra-sound frequencies that can be quite annoying! This is a display of membrane resonances: powerful speaker is connected to a tone generator and covered by plywood. Lose rice, when poured on top, forms unique geometrical shapes.

So turn the speakers down :)
